About the project

Our team created the app plugX with Mendix. plugX is an app that finds available charging stations near you. We were able to launch the plugX app in a fraction of the time and costs it would normally take to launch an app, since Mendix allowed us to take advantage of automating many manual processes.

Building and integrating critical functionalities (like the map to locate stations near you) was a fast process as well. The framework was already in the Mendix Platform so we didn’t have to spend time on the boilerplate code. As a low code platform, Mendix offers templates for several verticals or templates which are customizable for your project.

Mendix also offers integration possibilities. We wanted to take advantage of that and integrated Stripe for payments and the Exolink API Platform for the communication with charging stations. Next, we were able to deploy and publish both the iOS and Android versions to the respective stores. This enabled us to get customers immediately.

Within two months, we were able to launch the app. Which is almost an impossible time frame to go from the design concept to the launch. The low code development platform Mendix made the impossible possible. We were able to prioritize essential functions and get user feedback, then pivot as needed, without wasting time or funding. It’s very valuable for startups to use Mendix for building applications. You can create amazing things in a short amount of time and with low costs.
